Does your chronic illness prevent you from working? Have you considered an application for Social Security Disability? It’s usually a long and frustrating road to hoe, but financially rewarding if your claim is approved.
Because of today’s budgetary climate, the application process may be different and more difficult than it was when I applied, but if you feel that you’re not able to work because of your chronic illness and your physicians feel the same, it is worth the application.
To receive benefits, Social Security requires that you meet certain requirements and the following are take directly from a Disability Planner published BY Social Security
- “You cannot do work that you did before;”
- “We decide that you cannot adjust to other work because of your medical condition(s); and”
- “Your disability has lasted or is expected to last for at least one year or to result in death.”
